iPad Review;

I recently had my hands on the new iPad for the first time and I’ve got to say it’s a pretty darn fun-to-use gadget! I liked the way it responded to my fingers on the touch screen, very smooth and accurate and there is virtually no load time (minus some applications, they had very short load pause which is amazing) . As much fun as I had fiddling with it I still think it’s over-rated simply because it has as many cons as its pros!

My list on cons;

- No Flash support (many websites run on Flash)

- No USB ports (could be used for external storage or printer/scanner)

- No SD/Micro SD card reader

- No HDMI output

- No Camera

- No multi-tasking. (You can’t even open multiple tabs on the web browser!)

- Built-In battery (that you can’t replace so that if it dies so does your iPad!)

- You can’t back-up your apps (like for instance if you bought books from the App Store and you need to delete them because you’re running low on memory space, you won’t have the option to back them up in an external media storage device) (as reviewed by Z-District)

iPad Killer = HP Slate;

Dubbed ‘The iPad-Killer’ , the HP Slate is still behind closed doors at HP headquarters with creators still working on it’s final masterpiece. It was stated in March that we should expect the HP Slate to be out on the shelves come June. However last month, rumor appeared that HP pulled the plug on the whole Slate project to work on a new one with a different OS. (I’m still in the dark about this, if any of you have any information about it let me know!)

I’m a huge HP fan and the first impressions of this gadget are impressive as (on paper) it covers all the missing elements from the iPad listed above. However it is not out yet so I can’t really compare the two. Some critics have already gone to play down the HP Slate as it’s not up to challenge the iPad with it’s handy usability due to it’s slow/heavy load OS (Windows 7 compared to the iPad’s iPhone OS)

HP Slate specs;

Tablet PC, OS – Windows 7

8.9-inch 1024 x 600 capacitive multi-touch display, a 1.6GHz Atom Z530 processor with UMA graphics

64GB or 32GB flash storage and 1GB of non-upgradeable RAM

five-hour battery, an SDHC slot, two camera, a USB port, a SIM card slot for the optional 3G modem, and a dock connector for power, audio, and HDMI out.

MSI WindPad 100;

Similar to the HP Slate in terms of specs and OS, the MSI WindPad 100 differs in it’s look and size, and has a greater size of RAM. The MSI Wind Pad 100 is scheduled to be released later this year.

Yepp, I agrees on the Ipad thing. Although it may be really fun to mess around with, I dont think its' idea is quite perfected yet. Plus, there's alot you can't do with it. funniest thing I saw today? This guy had his Ipad on the steering wheel and his blackberry in the other hand; Way2go Mad Driving skills (Y) x

Yeah exactly, has not 'perfected' it yet. I think I'm going to sit back and see what happens later when the MSI WindTop and HP Slate come out, at least then we can have a real comparison & maybe then Apple will release a 'better' iPad to up the challenge. LOOL that doesn't happen anywhere else in the world I assure you! skilfully mad :0
